We are conditioned to believe that strangers are scary.
Fear turns our focus away from the people we are serving and onto finding peace or comfort.
We will dive into the realities of doing ministry amid the fears, unease, and hopes we have as ministry volunteers.
Ministry stops happening.
Passion disappears.
Frustration takes over.
Regret and shame build.
Lives are changed.
Passion grows.
Collaboration abounds.
Confidence and joy take root.
Fear Casts out Love | Justin Jorstad
No, you did not just read a typo. This title was intentionally eye-catching, but hopefully, more than anything, it is thought-provoking. Praise Jesus, we know His “perfect love casts out all fear” (1 John 4:18), but have you noticed in the world around you and within yourself that fear has the ability to cast out love? There are powerful discoveries to experience as we take time to be still, reflect and simply notice the reactions of our mind and body in those moments of fear. The Holy Spirit wants to use those moments to deepen our understanding of ourselves and God’s power in our lives.Practical Skills | Bradon Pihowich
We recognize and understand fear differently based on our previous experiences and relation to fear. In this session, you will get tools to help you recognize and navigate fear, both in yourself and in members of your community. We will reflect together on how our own body reacts to anxieties, fears, and unknowns and then ask the question, “What now?” Now that you recognize your own fear, what are some in-the-moment skills to work through that fear and learn to understand it more clearly?Jared Jorstad | Evangelism and Love
When most of us hear the word evangelism, many different ideas can float through our minds. Evangelism can bring about certain levels of anxiety and pressure when we think of testifying of Christ's love to people who need it most. What if I say the wrong thing? What if the person I’m talking to is better at debating than me? When faced with the challenge of sharing the truth of God’s love, we are often confronted with an infinite number of ideas about the world and how it works. There can be pressure to know how to navigate every idea and represent Christ well. In this session, we will learn how to communicate in an invitational way by taking the pressure off ourselves and putting it back on Jesus as we interact with those who don’t know him. Finally, we will gain and refine tools to know Christ better and to reveal his perfect love to others. These tools will help us engage people in an invitational manner.

Each one of us have been dominated by fear. Your not alone in this.
Our fear actually tells us that we care. It shows us that something before us is important and that we need to act!
